Interagency DNAPL Consortium: GEO is a
key participant in the Interagency DNAPL Consortium. The Consortium, comprised
of representatives from the DOE, DoD, NASA, and EPA, have initiated a
multi-year program to test and evaluate DNAPL characterization and remediation
technologies. In addition to supporting program management and coordination,
GEO manages the Technical Advisory Group which consists of nationally
known experts in the field of DNAPL site remediation.
Environmental Services, US DOE Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant:
GEO provides comprehensive, turn-key monitoring services. This includes
routine monitoring of over 200 wells located at two pump and treat facilities,
three sanitary landfills, and one hazardous waste landfill; surface water
monitoring at 4 permitted outfalls; and watershed monitoring at 11 stream
locations. This monitoring program is one of the largest single programs
in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Remedial Action Assessment, US DOE Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant:
GEO and its teaming partner provide comprehensive environmental management
services at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Services include conducting
remedial investigations and treatability studies, performing feasibility
studies, and developing proposed plans and records of decisions. This
Paducah site has over 475 solid waste management units and two large off
site groundwater plumes.
Personnel Experience: GEO took advantage of unique federal work
force transition opportunities to build a highly qualified staff of professionals
and technicians. Our staff has years of experience in all facets of environmental
services including designing and conducting remedial investigations, groundwater
and soil remediation, landfill permitting, developing comprehensive monitoring
programs, and well design, installation, and maintenance.
Mold Remediation and Restoration: Surface
Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Restoration of Household Goods
damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina caused extensive loss
and damage to structures and property along the Gulf of Mexico coast between
New Orleans, LA and Mobile, AL. Numerous Transportation Service Providers
(TSPs) that store Personal Property of Military families under contract
with the Department of Defense (DOD) were affected by the storm. Approximately
1,505,660 pounds of property were stored in these facilities that were
damaged. The purpose of this contract is to procure expert services that
will clean, dry, and restore the items to permit continued warehousing
without further deterioration. In order to restore the items to permit
continued warehousing without further deterioration, the items needed
to be inspected, cleaned, dried, and repacked in clean containers. This
process would only be complete if the items were deemed 'salvageable',
meaning they could be restored to a usable state. Program responsibilities
were to include the drafting of the program plan, mobilization, site preparation,
and set-up, provide specialized equipment, property cleaning, drying,
sanitizing, disposal, repacking, and provide the proper documentation
for each shipment.
